I've read this book 'coz my friend rasheed told me to. He told that I can learn a thing or two regarding medicine and hospitalization. (or merely life of the docs!!)
After reading this book, i have convinced myself that the name ROBIN COOK is a synonym for medical suspense. He made this so realistic.
Prologue starts with a sudden death of a healthy person at the hospital ( here he creates tension by saying some white blood cells are ripping apart...).And the murder of an old DOC (brutally).
The story runs around a family with husband and wife are doctors and they fortunately got jobs at the same hospital as they have planned . Bartlet hospital , the name even I hear now I'm getting tense some-what regarding new hospital appliances . They have a child , nikki, with cystic fibriosis , a respiratory disease (don't worry it appears if mom and dad are carriers of that bacteria) . At some point this nikki is the hero , she with shot gun fired at masked man . I really expected much heroics in the end (like in movies they show),but it ended in vain. It ends rather with in reality.
And so I 've learned much . And at some points author created suspense that made my heart raced . No sooner did I arrive at the last pages (at the point where they r gonna catch the murderer), I started reading as fast as possible for me .
This book created much fun and with curiosity I completed this one in no-time . And this whole book is about new economic reforms at hospitals and the doc-patient relationship . I liked his story-telling. :)
